The easiest way to carbonate beer. This is a Cornelius keg lid with built-in carbonation stone! Move the lid from keg to keg to carbonate as needed. Allows you to force carbonate quickly using the attached .5 micron stone with the portability of being able to move the lid from keg to keg. No more hassles of trying to attach and unattach line from the "gas in" dip tube. Simply connect your gas quick disconnect to the included fitting on the lid and allow carbonation to begin. Sometimes also called a carbonater.

We constructed the lid by welding on a 1/4" barb to the underside of the lid. To that we attached 2' of 1/4" ID tubing that attaches to a .5 micron carb stone on the other end. The flexible tubing, as opposed to rigid tubing, allows the lid inserted into any cornelius style keg. The top of the lid has a "gas in" ball lock body connect welded in place that works with the KEG710 and KEG730 gas quick disconnects.

How to use this product:
Beer must be stored cold 34–40°F
1. Preboil the stone for 2–3 minutes before using. This assures you that your stone is sterile and any residual oils have been boiled off.
2. Sanitize the whole keg lid before submersing into your keg filled with beer.
3. Set your PSI on your regulator to 3–4psi and attach your gas in fitting to the body connect on the lid. Leave keg at this pressure for 1 hour.
4. Raise your pressure 2PSI per hour until you reach 10–12psi. Leave it at 10–12psi for 24 hours. Pour a pint and test the carbonation. If you think your beer needs more CO2 leave for another 4–6 hours and have another pint.
5. Remove carbonation lid after carbonation level is satisfactory. Return original keg lid for long term storage.

Can this be left in the keg, for the keg duration, with CO2 attached to it, or should it be removed and replaced with a 'regular' lid when the keg is carbonated?
James M. White on Sep 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I just use it for the first three day, then purge and cap so I can use it on the next keg.
Will this work on smaller kegs? Is tubing connection barbed?
Ryan Bender on Mar 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: yes, the fitting is barbed. you can shorten it as much as you like. You could also just let the slack coil up in the keg, it will still work 100% the same.
Does this carbonating lid fit torpedo kegs?
MARK DANIELS on May 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I believe it should work for a torpedo. From what I understand a torpedo uses a standard corny style lid.
Can I use this to make soda in my keg? And just leave on with gas attached and outlet on also?
Nathan Ford on Dec 20, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes you can.
Agitation really helps for the CO2 to dissolve into liquid.
I would not leave on as the CO2 levels will get high for your soda.
Once carbonate to your desired CO2 level, turn off gas, Use gas only to dispense.
Hope this helps.
What is the wetting pressure of the 0.5 micron stone?
Paul Gillespie on Feb 20, 2020
BEST ANSWER: There may be some slight variation with different regulators, temps, etc. but I checked mine in a bucket of water and found it to be 6 psi.
Where can I buy replacement hose for this mine split?
Mark Gibson on Sep 14, 2021
BEST ANSWER: I would recommend cutting off split section and remounting on barb fitting, heat up with hot water to make more flexible, otherwise measure inner diameter of hose and order a suitable replacement, most home brew suppliers carry different types of hose in various diameters. Hope that helps.
What is the recommended cleaning method after each use?
NATHAN POHLIT on Jan 26, 2021
BEST ANSWER: What I do is just normal soaking (like in OxiClean) and rinsing. Then I hang it up to dry, after removing the stone on the end. The stone I boil before using the next time. As preparation for next use, I reattach the stone, put the whole assembly in sanitizer (like Star San solution), and pressure blow CO2 through it for a few seconds.

Works great for quick(er) soda water carbonation
Using this in my kegerator exclusively for carbonated water. No leaks, and the tube is long enough for the aeration stone to sit at the bottom of the 10 gal keg.

Whereas with the standard short gas inlet the water would take about 3 days to become pleasantly carbonated, now it seems to take about 36 hours.

Good but not great.
Good product. Able to carb beer or soda or seltzer beer in 24hrs. The tube is a bit stiff. Cleaning is a pain. And tube location makes it difficult some times to get lid on. But, it does work. And I don't have to swap fitting on keg or pick up 4.5 gallons of beer and shake it. I set mine for about 18-20 psi for 24 hrs and I'm done. Might be a little over carbonated for some beer but I can deal with that over flat.

Works as expected. Beer is carbonated. Took a few days to get to carbonation level that didn’t make me think... “this tastes flat”.

needs a shorter tubing length
Tubing is too long even for 5 gallon corny kegs. Far too long for 3 gallon kegs. I had to trim it down so that it wasn't crimped due to having to loop back up. Also needed to use hot water to get the bend out of the tubing.

Seems to do the job it was intended for. Would be better to have options for different tubing lengths to purchase so you can have it ready for your kegs right out of the box.

Much quicker than the old way
This carbonating lid works quite well. I've tried it on a Porter and an ale in the last week and both were ready to drink within 24 hours. It takes a little babysitting
in the first few hours to raise the pressure slowly every hour but not a big deal. Definitely an upgrade.
