Description

We've seen a lot of all-in-one systems over the years, but none are as feature-packed and affordable as the BrewZilla. While other units simply maintain your set temperature, the BrewZilla features a sophisticated digital controller which can be programmed with a full mash schedule, executing each step automatically. The built-in pump will continuously recirculate wort during the mash for more even heat distribution and higher efficiency, but thanks to the integrated camlock fitting, it has even more functionality. Add the optional whirlpool arm to make your late hop additions pop and speed up chilling time, or connect a camlock fitting and tubing to transfer wort to your fermenter. These are just a couple of reasons why MoreBeer! loves the BrewZilla, but there are so many More!

Our Top 10 Favorite Features:

  1. Sophisticated digital controller capable of programmed mash steps, boil addition timers and delayed start
  2. Built-in pump for constant recirculation during mash or whirlpooling and transferring with optional accessories
  3. Full depth malt pipe for higher mash efficiency and capable of running small batches without a pricey adapter
  4. Multiple power modes to cover each step of the brew day – low power to gently heat your mash up to full power for a rolling boil
  5. Wort chiller included! Perfectly sized for this system and adds even more value to your purchase of the BrewZilla
  6. High capacity brewhouse – with a volume of over 9 gallons, you can fit more grain and more wort to make MoreBeer!
  7. Single wall design doesn't trap in heat – chill your wort quickly after the boil!
  8. Super convenient bottom handle makes lifting/pouring a breeze
  9. Rubber feet keep the boiler lifted off the ground and safely above any spills that may occur
  10. Affordable! This is the best price for an all-in-one brewing system you'll find, period.

If you want to jump into all grain brewing right from your first batch, or as an upgrade from malt extract brewing, the BrewZilla is a complete turn key solution. The BrewZilla is an all-in-one electric brewery that has built-in elements for heating and boiling, programmable mash schedule and delayed start, a built-in pump for recirculation, an onboard water resistant control panel for setting and monitoring temperatures, a removable grain basket, and a built-in spigot for transferring. It is extremely portable and uses 110V power so it can be used nearly anywhere.

The V3.1.1 unit features an upgraded main circuit board that changes how the automatic step mashing functions. Now when moving from step to step, the timer for each step will not begin counting down until the programmed temperature is reached. This means more accurate mash schedules than ever before! The new board also introduces boil addition timers so you'll never miss the mark for hop additions.

To get the Wort Chiller Connection Kit for free, add the item to your cart along with the BrewZilla and use code ZILLAKIT at checkout.

New accessory! Check out the BrewZilla Whirlpool Arm, which uses the unit's internal pump to recirculate and spin the wort, improving hop extraction and chill times. No more stirring!

Automatic Step Mashing & Delayed Start!
One of the coolest features of the BrewZilla is the ability to program the unit with up to 6 individual temperatures and durations so you can step mash precisely how you desire. Simply press the "S1-S6" button to select the stage you want to adjust, and use the temp, time and +/- buttons to program the stage. If you have less than 6 stages in your mash schedule, program the stages you want to skip with 00:00 as the time and the controller will automatically move on to the next step. When all the stages are complete, the unit will sound an alarm and hold the last set temperature.

The programmable stages can also be used to set a delayed start of up to 23 hours in advance so that you can have your water hot and ready to go when you get home from work or wake up in the morning. In order to do this, fill the unit with strike water and program the controller with two steps. Step 1 should be programmed at a temperature lower than the unheated strike water (so the elements will remain off), and the duration should be programmed for however long you want the delay. Then program Step 2 with your desired strike water temperature and a duration of 1-2 hours, giving the BrewZilla ample time to heat up and giving you a margin of error in case you hit the snooze button the morning of brew day.

Recirculating Mash with Full Depth Malt Pipe
The built-in magnetic drive pump easily recirculates wort during the mash. We recommend getting some silicone tubing to go with the recirculation arm. This allows you more control over the recirculation and you can then use the pump to transfer your wort to your fermenter. As with any mash, be sure to stir your grain very thoroughly after mashing-in so you start out with an even temperature throughout the grain bed.

Some competing models advertise their perforated malt pipes as "high flow", but what they don't mention is how this affects efficiency. When recirculating the mash, wort will escape through the side perforations rather than passing through the grain at the bottom-most end of the malt pipe which can lead to lower efficiency. The BrewZilla's malt pipe is designed so that recirculating wort must pass through the entire grain bed before escaping through the false bottom and being pumped over the top of the grain bed again. If you're worried about the flow rate, simply add a pound or two of rice hulls to your grain bill. This is especially recommended when brewing with a high level of wheat, oat, or flaked grains.

Power & Heating Control
Dual heating elements run off of a single 110 volt plug and have individual switches allowing for more control over the heating process. One element is 1000 watts and the other is 500 for a combined 1500 watts! Use both when you need to ramp up the temperature quickly either at the start to get to your mash temp or to go from your mash temp to boiling. Use only one of the elements when you want to hold a temperature.

We highly recommend adding the optional BrewZilla Neoprene Jacket to help reduce heating times and maintain a more vigorous boil. The extra thick neoprene jacket is custom designed to insulate the entire kettle portion of the BrewZilla while staying out of the way of the ball valve and handles. The jacket can help you acheive up to 10% faster heat up times and cut heat loss from the boiler in half. And when it comes time to cool your wort after the boil, simply remove the jacket! While other units boast a double wall design for better heat retention, this actually becomes a disadvantage when it comes to chilling.

The digital control panel makes it easy to see the current temperature and set the temperature you want. The digital controller is also water resistant so don't worry about spills or some water dripping down the side. This controller is built for brewing!

The brewery also includes a stainless steel malt pipe with false bottom allowing you to easily shift from mash tun to boil kettle during your brew day. The malt pipe includes a handle to lift it out and tabs at the base so you can set the malt pipe over the kettle to let the wort drain out. It also has feet at its base to raise the malt pipe slightly off the base and help prevent clogging.

The included stainless steel wort chiller is shipped with bare ends so you can set it up for your situation. We list below the most common tubing and fittings to connect to a hose, hose bib, or faucet.

What MoreBeer! loves about this product: Homebrewing is trending in the direction of all-in-one, all-grain brewing systems and the BrewZilla is the ultimate value. The cost is half of the next comparable system with programmable mash steps and nearly the same as buying converted coolers and a kettle. We've brewed on all the systems and we can truly say the BrewZilla is the easiest to use. We feel confident that a lot of first time brewers could buy this and use it with ease. At the same time quite a few of our experienced, all-grain brewing staff are buying it to brew at home. The unit is extremely compact because the pump is built-in to the bottom of the unit. You can move it around with ease which makes it perfect for guys and gals that have space constraints. Someone on the team also mentioned how they like that you can drain it via gravity without having to use the pump. All in all a great buy and highly recommended. Please note you will need a few extra pieces of hardware to connect the wort chiller and at least 2' of silicone tubing for the sparge.

Use the Pump for More Than Just Recirculation!
One of the surprisingly handy features of the BrewZilla is that the recirculation pipe features a female camlock. This allows you to hook up other accessories and use the unit's pump for more than just recirculating wort. With a male camlock and silicone tubing, for example, you can use the internal pump to push wort through a plate chiller or counterflow chiller. Check out our selection of camlock fittings here

To sparge do you need to heat secondary water and pour over the raised grains?
Kenneth A on Feb 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: There are a few different ways to go about it. Some folks will just conduct the mash with extra water so that the total volume is already there. This method can yield slightly lower gravities and be less efficient. Otherwise you will have to heat sparge water on the side and pour or pump it over the grain basket after the mashing step is finished.
Is the pump accessible?
Isaac Ramsey on Mar 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No. The pump is encased within the bottom of the unit. It is possible to access it for repairs, but not to add functionality.
How does it keep the trub out of the drain?
Kenneth A on Feb 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The best way to keep the trub out of the drain is by conducting a whirlpool with the included recirculation arm while cooling. This will force most of the sediment to the center of the kettle. Then all you have to do is remove the clear wort gently and you won't have to worry.
Does this need to be vented for steam if used in the basement?
Steve Seithel on Feb 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Guess it depends on the size of the basement. You will be boiling off upto a gallon of water. I use it in a closed garage and have not had any issues with condensation, granted it is more ventilated than a basement. I would brew in a basement.
My Robobrew only gets as high as 212 degrees, anyone else have that issue?
Chris Padilla on Apr 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: i have not had that issue but I do use the jacket and also make sure if using an extension cord make sure it is heavy duty and does not get to warm.
is the temp just in Celsius or is it also in Fahrenheit?
Peter Kapushinski on Apr 22, 2021
BEST ANSWER: It’s in both whatever you set it up at and its easy to change from c/f vs/vs I prefer Fahrenheit myself hope this helps you. P s I love mine works great. Good luck
What is the height of the kettle when measured from the top of the false bottom to the rim?
ANDREW EVANS on Apr 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: 17" from the top of the false bottom to the rim. The false bottom is 1 1/2" tall making the total depth of the kettle 18 1/2". The malt pipe (the insert basket for the grains) is about 15 1/2" tall measured from the inside.
Is there any kind of Flow control on the pump or is it just on/off?
William J Leeper on Apr 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Flow control is in the valve on the tube on the side.
would this be good for biab?
Phillip Johnston on Aug 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It replaces the need for a BIAB. The inside cylinder is the "Bag." Go ahead, you won't regret this purchse.
Can you do half size (2.5 gallon) batches?
Gary Layton on May 4, 2020
BEST ANSWER: You can do half size batches in this machine with two drawbacks. For the mash you will need to use more water to make sure your grains are covered all the way. Pretty much you are adding your full bre-boil volume into the kettle instead of mashing with less and adding sparge water. Also if you opt for the chiller it might not have enough coils submerged in your wort to operate at maximum efficiency. Aside from that it will work and you'll be able to make some great half batches. Cheers!
In regards to the Brewzilla, it says you'll need at least 2' of tubing for the sparge. I was just curious how this process works. Can you sparge using the internal pump and recirculation arm?
Jeremy Hueter on Oct 29, 2021
BEST ANSWER: It depends if you are referring to recirculating or sparging. If recirculating (with the basket down) yes. If sparging or rinsing the grains (with the basket up) you would use water from an external source. It could be cold water or heated to your desired sparge temp. Cold water works but will increase the time it takes to get up to boil.
Is there a water chart for strike and sparge water for the 110v system?
Erin Blase on Feb 14, 2022
BEST ANSWER: Not that I am aware of. I use the water targets from Brewer's Friend to set my water schedule, but it seems rather high because the Brewzilla doesn't seem to lose hardly a gallon during the boil.
I’ve had issues with fouling on the heating element on a competitors unit that’s similar to this BrewZilla unit. Has anyone experienced fouling with the BrewZilla unit?
Terry Phenicie on Feb 10, 2022
BEST ANSWER: Me too; almost every batch to one degree or another. I don't think it's good to press too hard on the BrewZilla bottom. I usually do a light scrub followeed by a small amount of undiluted StarSan (careful - this is a strong acid). That completely removes the residue and leaves a nice shiny surface after thorough water rinse.
For the 110V US version, what amp rating cb does it require? Wondering if 15a is enough. The manual is for the higher wattage European version, and doesn't specify for US...thanks in advance.
Christian Whitlock on May 7, 2020
BEST ANSWER: 15 amps is the perfect amount to run this unit. If you're getting at least 100v at the outlet, measured with a multimeter, you will have exactly 1500 watts of power for the elements.
Can you whirlpool with the included pump?
Jay Penneau on Jun 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, with this $15 accessory (Whirlpool Arm for 35L & 65L BrewZilla).

https://www.morebeer.com/products/whirlpool-arm-35l-65l-robobrew-brewzilla.html
Does anyone know the actual watt density of the heating elements?
Kyle on Jul 8, 2020
BEST ANSWER: We do not have specifics on the watt density of these burners. However we can note that the elements do not have direct contact with the wort and we have never experienced any scorching or other problems associated with high watt density.
Anyone knows the box size from Robobrew v3?
Aimbere Moura on Jan 29, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Aimbere - By "box size" would you be referring to the controller module?
Does this come with the silicone tubing for the recirculation arm or does it need to be purchased as an add on? Online reviews in user groups says its included, but here it says it needs to be purchased as an add on. Thanks
brian terwilliger on Feb 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This does not include the tubing.

You will Need:
2' of H985 1/2" ID Silicone tubing for sparging and draining.
To connect included Chiller: (20') of D1710 1/2" ID beverage tubing (or whatever length required, (3) H950 hose clamps and (1) brass hose by thread adaptor (H508).

Great entry-level all-grain brewing system
A friend of mine was all-grain brewing in a 3 vessel setup, but recently got the Brewzilla and showed me how it worked. I was impressed with how easy and compact it made everything. I ended up buying one for myself as I am just getting into home brewing and have limited space in my apartment. This unit easily makes 5 or 6 gallon batches but does take about an hour to bring it to a boil. The 110V is only downside to this kit. Also, make sure to purchase the whirlpool arm and neoprene jacket (unless you want to DIY your own insulation) to make brewing slightly faster and better. The included chiller is OK, I did not get the connection kit for it and zip-tied rubber tubing to the in and out ports and use a garden hose hookup under my sink to run Mains water through the chiller for around 20 minutes at about half open. When I fully opened the tap the water sprayed out of the end of the tubing in my sink all over, half-open was more than enough to cool the wort and keep the hose pressure under control in the sink.

My biggest suggestion would be for a SS lid to be available alongside the glass lid. This would allow people in confined spaces to drill a steam condenser system into a blank SS lid and not into the side of the main vessel. I would like to have a steam condenser setup, but I need to find a sacrificial lid that fits.

Going from BIAB to BrewZilla was a breeze. Everything is pretty much the same process and I really, really like the fact I can brew in the garage now and not be weather dependent on my old propane setup.
Few things to get straight in your head during brew day, regarding elements and pump, but so far so good and im really happy with my purchase.
