Description

Keep your fermentation temperature stable by pairing the BrewBuilt X-Series Uni Conical with one of these silicone heaters. Designed to wrap around the conical portion of the tank, these pads will gently heat your fermenter from the bottom up to keep your yeast comfortable and working hard. A must-have for brewers living in colder climates or if you want the peace of mind that you can ferment ale or kveik strains no matter the time of year. Having a conical heater also comes in handy if you chilled your wort below yeast pitching temperature and want to warm it back up before pitching.

We always recommend pairing the heating pad with a temperature controller so it will only be powered on as needed. A dual stage temperature controller like the Inkbird is a great option for controlling both heating and cooling with a BrewBuilt CoolStix™.

Notes:

  • For warmer climates, go one size down
  • For colder climates, go one size up
  • Safety Shut off: Stops at 120°F
  • Excess heat after flocculation can cause off-flavors from autolysis
  • 3M brand adhesive back for permanent installation

Tested by our in-house engineers, we created a recommendation chart to help you choose the heater that best suits your batch size.

I run a 100W light bulb in my fermenting chamber so this should be plenty.

Will these work with the pre-Uni X1 fermenters from Morebeer? I assume the conical measurements are the same, but you never know.
Todd Burley on Dec 30, 2022
BEST ANSWER: I bought mine for an old MoreBeer fermenter. Works great. The only requirement for any fermenter is that the degree of the conical is steep enough for yeast collection (I think like 60deg'ish). I doubt it would work on the lower degree Conicals.
Has any one used this on a spike CF5 conical? My heater died after 3 years.
Antonio Logan on Apr 6, 2024
BEST ANSWER: I have. It has proven more effective and reliable than the Spike heating pad. This pad will reach higher temperatures than the Spike as well, due to the relatively low temperature cutoff switch in the Spike. I never thought that the Velcro on the Spike pad worked very well, in part because the jacket fit like a loose diaper, which meant that the pass wasn't in for contact with the fermenter at all times. I didn't love sticking this BrewBuilt pad onto my fermenter, but it just works better that way.

I had this and it worked well to maintain steady fermentation temperatures when the ambient temp in my unheated room dipped. It did, however, die after about 6 months of regular use.

80w fit perfectly on my 7gal X2
Ordered this for my 7gal X2 jacketed conical and it fit perfectly. I wouldn't go any bigger than the 80w on the 7gal as it stretches from the front ports to the front ports. As for it's heating capability, it easily keeps my fermenter at 72F in my 67F basement. I haven't had a chance to use it with any yeast strains that like to go warmer but I'm confident this could easily get it up into the 80's or higher.

80W Heater that exceeds expectations
Using the 80W heater with my 14G SS Brewtech Conical 2.0. The fit is prefect, missed all the ports on the cone of the conical and has good coverage. The 80W heater was able to hold fermentation temperatures and easily raise temperatures. The first use of the heater was in my garage with an ambient temperature around 40F/4.5C. It had no trouble at all. I haven't pushed the heater to hold temperatures above 70F/21C.
