Description

Dual Functionality: Acts as both a stopper and an airlock, allowing CO2 to escape while preventing oxygen and contaminants from entering, ensuring optimal fermentation conditions.
Versatile Fit: Compatible with a wide range of containers, including 3, 5, 6, and 6.5-gallon carboys, 1-gallon bottles, growlers, and 500 mL flasks, replacing multiple stopper sizes.
Ideal for Wine and Beer Ferments: Breathable stoppers are a popular choice in commercial wineries and perfect for beer fermentation, it creates a vacuum if the wort cools, preventing contamination from water airlocks.

A breathable Silicone stopper that acts as both a stopper and an airlock. Unique design allows CO2 pressure to escape but keeps Oxygen and airborne contamination out. This quickly became our stopper of choice for wine, and is a popular style used by numerous commercial wineries. Also has great application for beer ferments: It will create a vacuum if fermenting wort cools (as opposed to pulling water in from your traditional airlock.) Airtight seal is great for extended fermented lager when CO2 production is still present but very slight.

Fits 3, 5, 6 & 6.5 gallon glass carboys, 1 gallon bottles, growlers, and 500 mL flasks.

Stopper Measurements: 0.94" x 1.48" (24 mm x 37.5 mm)
The flapper stopper protrudes roughly 2.5" from the stopper to allow for easy assembly

Easy assembly, Hope this flapper works

A dab of cooking oil on the red shaft and the parts easily join. flapper seals the vent holes, I'm just hoping they bleed before the CO2 pops the stopper out. trusting my first one.. We'll see

Carboy Breathable Bung

This item comes in two separate parts - the bung and the red flapper. I was only able to get the flapper pushed half way into the bung. After contacting MoreWine representatives a couple of times it was discovered that the trick was after pushing the flapper in as far as possible, to get it fully in one must moisten it with water and then pull it from the bottom twisting with a lot of force to get it assembled correctly. The item seems to be of excellent quality and the MoreWine associates I dealt with were helpful and excellent. Assembly instructions should be included.
