Description

Better Bottle is a name known in the home beer and winemaking for their quality products.  Plastic PET carboy fermenters are much safer than glass carboys; not only because they weigh less, but they will also not explode into shrapnel if dropped!  These are made from Virgin PET and manufactured in such a way that the molecules are tightly packed, and less susceptible to oxygen transfer, resulting in better wine and beer!

Aside from it's advantages over glass carboy fermentors, the Better Bottle is relatively impermeable to oxygen.  This means that if your wine or beer is destined for aging, this is vessel is a perfect choice!  When using the Better Bottle and it's accessories, the transfer rate of oxygen is lower than that suggested for Micro-oxygenation, and insignificant when compared to the amount of oxygen transferred through other bottles and their stoppers.

I prefer the six gallon carboy over the five gallon. I believe the extra head space helps prevent blow overs.

Great product!
Used it as my primary with great results. Much better than a glass carboy and nice to see active fermentation compared to using a bucket. Cleaning is more difficult but certainly doable.

The bottom cracked.
This is my first time owning a better bottle brand plastic fermenter. After my first use, I was cleaning the fermenter. I'm not sure if there was suction between the wet floor or me turning it on its side that caused a crack in the bottom. I didn't notice any defining sound signifying something had happened and didn't notice a crack until I started rinsing it out. Either way, I was reasonably light-handed when turning it on its side to empty. This could be a fluke but I wouldn't expect it to cause a crack for how I handled it. I will be a little gun shy on a future buy of a better bottle.

The best! Except no imitations. Buy a Better Bottle.
Amazing quality, so easy to clean with a Oxyclean or PBW soak, never any scrubbing required. Seems slightly thicker and more durable than the other PET carboys on this site. The hump in the bottom is perfectly shaped for leaving behind hops and yeast when racking. I feel that the contours down the side seem to help collect dry hop sludge and floating trub as the liquid level is lowered during racking. I thought all PET carboys were the same... I was wrong! Buy a Better Bottle.

very good
Used glass for many years, then started switching to Better Bottle based on some recommendations. Really have enjoyed them... lighter, easier to handle, safer. I had one crack when I left it outside with water in it (got too cold). Only other issue is squeezing them when lifting... just have to be careful as you can suck liquid out of the airlock and into the wort. Would still recommend to anyone.

Say goodbye to glass carboys
I'll never use glass carboys again! Everyone must buy these.

Much better than glass
I've got 6 of these now, and they are far superior to the glass ones I used to use. They are lighter, more rugged, and I don't have to worry about them shattering. I got brew hauler webbing for them all to make carrying easier. I also stuck a temperature sticker on the outside of each...a must do...they ought to come with one, IMHO. I don't scrub them to clean because I'm worried about scratching the surface; a few hours soaking in PBS is all that I've ever needed for even the most stubborn dried-on hop/trub residue.

Great bottle!
i bought this one after my glass carboy shattered after it tipped over while drying. No need to worry about getting cut up with this one! Not a lot of head space when full but that's why there are blow off tubes

Lighter, Safer, and Easier to Clean than Glass
I always use this 6 gallon Better Bottle as my primary fermentor. It's easy to clean without scrubbing. Just follow the instructions on the Better Bottle website, and this carboy will last a long time.

If you pick these plastic fermentors up by the neck or squeeze them around the middle they will compress or expand which can suck the liquid from your airlock into the fermentor. I keep mine in a milk crate for stable transportation. No problems!

Strong and reliable
I tried a similar plastic bottle with smooth sides, but it was nowhere near as durable as the Better Bottle. I guess that's why it's called "Better". :)
