Description

An amazing way to automate a RIMS or HERMS system! This device has a pilotless electronic ignition control system that adapts to ANY burner (gas or propane). This ignition system will instantly relight your burner if blown out by the wind, and will shut down your gas if a flame is not detected within 10 sec and will sound an alarm. Includes industrial ignition electrode and high quality silicone/carbon fiber ignition wire. Monitors the temperature of your mash tun or HLT (or if you have two Control Modules, both).

Control Module will include:

  • Ultra high precision and accuracy PID controller and Class A precision RTD temp sensor. Sensor can be installed in any 1/2" hole in your pot for a HLT or into any 1/2" NPT fitting with the included adapter bushing.
  • A pilotless electronic ignition control system that adapts to ANY burner (gas or propane). This ignitor will instantly relight your burner if blown out by a wind, and will shut down your gas if a flame is not detected within 10 sec and will sound an alarm. Includes industrial ignition electrode and high quality silicone/carbon fiber ignition wire.
  • US made gas solenoid valve (installs on your burner gas supply)
  • Data port for optional remote monitoring and mash profile programming (unlimited profiles) on your PC (optional Communication Cable required)
  • Convenient cable storage tray in the back of the enclosure to neatly store wires between uses.
  • Includes a decal for MASH and one for HLT so you can label appropriately.
  • Compact enclosure is 4.25"W, 7"H, 7"D - easy to integrate into your brew system
  • Brushed stainless cover and gloss black powder coated case will look beautiful for years

Vey cool
I have the TOP gas fired working as a RIMS system. So far very good once I got through the initial set up. On my third batch the sensor broke, the only positive thing is it was right before I started the mash, so no loss to the batch, stopped my brew day although. I recommend having backup parts for this just in case. Temps hold fine and no matter the cold weather outside it works fine. The ability to recirculate my mash has already increased my efficiency more then I thought it would, also incredible clean wort going to my boil kettle. I use a 8 gallon More Beer mash tun and a 15 gallon More Beer Boil Kettle with a whirlpool arm, pumps and hoses for both. I also recommend the Blichmann floor burner with this, works great, good system and great results. I have ordered backup parts now, lesson learned. I would have given this a five, but I feel the wires and connections could be stronger.
Awesome!
I have a single control module to fire my mash tun. All I can say is its awesome! Worked perfectly right out of the box. Holds my mash temps rock solid. I don't know why anyone would use it in a HERMS, as the slow reaction time of a HERMS coil kind of defeats the purpose. Likewise, it would be overkill for the HLT. The tower itself looks really cool but you can build one yourself (minus the flowmeter) for a lot less. I don't think a flowmeter is necessary unless your system is prone to stuck sparges and my Morebeer mash tun has never given me a stuck sparge even at high flowrates.

Works very well.
This device is great and I highly recommend it. I use it to control mash temperatures in a HERMS-type mash setup. Once a chosen temperature is reached it holds it very effectively - far better than I could manually.

I am using it in a non-standard application to heat primary water for heat exchangers on a 15 gallon mash tun, and in this set up it is a little too picky, and starts cycling too soon, which makes my temperature changes take too long. So I have to override it and "cheat" by setting the target temp on the controller 5 or even 10 degrees higher than I want, then ramping the temperature setting back down to target when the temperature is reached. I am sure if I could have access to the programs inside this thing, I could fine tune it for my application, but I am not sure this is even possible.

But overall it works great, I wouldn't be without it and it works pretty much according to it's billing. One day I will add another to maintain HLT temps, but these puppies are not cheap!
