Description

The KegLand pH Meter will get you a very accurate reading with its 0.01 pH resolution. The calibration process couldn't be easier to perform, just place the probe in the buffer solution closest to pH of the sample you'll be testing and press the button! This pH meter also includes ATC (Automatic Temperature Compensation) so you don't have to get your sample all the way down to room temperature before you take your reading. 

3-point calibration allows this unit to be calibrated at three different standard levels - 4.00, 6.86 or 9.18. These standards are included with the pH meter, and refill packs are also available.

The pH meter features a replaceable probe in case yours is lost or damaged. Homebrewing can be a tough environment for your pH probe so we feel you shouldn't have to buy a whole new pH meter everytime your probe breaks. The cap that holds the probe storage solution has a very tight seal and should prevent your probe from drying out while not in use. Don't worry about getting this meter wet either, because the entire unit is waterproof!

My PH meter arried with the probe and cap dried out and had "salts" in the cap. Will it still be functional?

BEST ANSWER: There is a good chance it is still functional. If you can calibrate it with the buffer solutions then you will know it is good.

I only process wine once a year. I bought a ph pen 2 yrs ago. It worked fine the first year. The second year it didn't work at all. I just saw a response to a question below that indicated you should change the storage solution every day ! That is not practical for me for a pen I only use once a year. Is there any alternative way to measure pH? I see you are out of ph strips with a 3-4 ph range.

I see that the Beverage Doctor pH meter comes with 4.00 and 6.86 buffer solution powders for calibration. I have the premixed 4.00 and 7.00 calibration solutions - will the Beverage Doctor meter calibrate to the 7.00 solution or does it require the 6.86 solution?

BEST ANSWER: Yes. It will. The calibration solution is made for that. Just keep in mind the solution has a shelf life. It will loose it’s strength in a couple of days. What I do is I got calibration solution 4.0 and 7.0 and. Storage solution from another seller and change it every 3-4 months. You should calibrate before every use “session” and use new storage solution every day. Thats for all kinds of pen style ph meter. This is a very good ph meter. Very accurate. Also, of you libe in a very hot place, keep the ph meter and solutions in the fridge to prolong their life.

Right Price, Accurate, Take care of it.
I bought this without knowing anything about ph meters, and was happy Morebeer recommended the storage solution. As many have said, mine came a bit dry and had crystals in the cap. Kind of hard to avoid if you ask me, but I re-hydrated with the storage solution and then did a 3 point calibration with no problem. Immediately tested distilled water and got the expected ph, and used on my first brew day since I got it and it worked well.

I'm not certain the typical protocol, but I found taking a small sample of the mash or boiling wort into a glass jar (not a large sample) and letting it cool just slightly was better than dunking it in boiling wort or hot mash.

I'm pretty sure if you take care of this, keep some storage solution in the sealed cap, it will last as much as you need.

I did notice, that I got the very best results, especially during calibration, if you religiously rinse the probe with distilled water between each test.

Beverage Doctor pH Meter
I used the Beverage Doctor pH meter for the first time recently. It was easy to calibrate and measure pH. It was very accurate and close to the Beer Smith estimated mash pH.

Would not callibrate
Purchased new at local homebrew shop. Label said it was from Morebeer on the box. Would not calibrate when I got around to trying it. All of the storage solution on the tip was dried out , crystalized and hardened. I bought a brand new sensor tip from Morebeer and when it came the solution in the tip was also dried up and crystalized. It too would not calibrrate. Morebeer quickly shipped a replacement. However it arrived in the same condition as the other two. There seems to be a recurring problem with these probes. Morebeer's stock is not maintained or sits too long on the shelf.

Excellent meter!
Finally had a chance to use the Beverage Doctor Ph meter this past weekend. IT was very accurate as compared with the 4.0 and 7.0 solutions.
My previous Ph meter died just before brew day, so I had to trust my recipe for my additions, and pray to the beer Gods.
So I also ordered the replacement electrode for the Beverage Doctor Ph meter... just in case.
