Description

The beer filter gets installed inline between two ball lock Cornelius kegs using CO2 pressure to push the beer out of the full keg through the filter and into the clean keg. This kit is designed to filter out particles down to 1 micron, which is considered fine filtration. At one micron the beer will be clear after filtration provided you do not have a starch haze. Filtering also accelerates the conditioning process to just a few days. Most of our customers who use the filtering kit find that they; keg beer, chill it overnight, filter the next day, carbonate, and are drinking clear beer in a couple days. For those who want to bottle beer without sediment, filtering combined with the use of a counter pressure bottle filler will allow you to put crystal clear, carbonated beer into bottle. The beer filtering kit comes with one 10" filter housing, a 1 micron 10" spun poly sediment filter, fittings for connection to the filter housing, 3' of beverage line, clamps, and two beverage out ball lock quick disconnects.

Spun-polypropylene filters are disposable filters and cannot be cleaned and used more than once. However, you can filter multiple kegs with one filter. 3 micron will remove most yeast, and 1 micron filtration will remove almost all yeast. All filters are rated nominal (will filter out 80-85% of matter at given rating). Temperature rated to 125°F.

I cannot get it open. I don't understand why but I've bought 3 different types of wrenches now and I literally can't open the filter to put the cartridge into. What could I be doing wrong?
Jacob G on Aug 27, 2022
BEST ANSWER: It can be a tough job getting it loose at times. I use a Superb Wrench HW-SL-MW4. Make sure you are trying to turn it clockwise if looking down from the top. I ended up using a pair of adjustable pliers to hold it around the area where the mounting holes are on the top. It scarred it up a bit but I didn't care. For subsequent usage, I applied a food grade grease on the threads and seal. JAX brand (PĂĽrgel Klear) is what I have on hand. I don't use the filter very often. It's too big of a pain and the filters don't fit well. I like the beer unfiltered and my beers tend to be pretty clear when finished anyway. Hope this helps. Good luck!Enter an answer to this question.
I am looking for a replacement filter for this product. What filter should I get?
Nicholas L on Feb 25, 2022
BEST ANSWER: I generally use the 5 micron filter for kegging.
would this resist to pressure of the pump? I need to pump the beer to the keg and filter at the same time?
david V on May 13, 2021
BEST ANSWER: The unit, if properly assembled, will withstand the pressure. The weak point would be the hose from the pump to the filter. As the filtering progresses, the filter material will become clogged increasing back pressure. If your hose isn’t secured tightly, expect a blowout.
Do you need to sanitize or rinse the filter before using it on beer or braggot?
Kenneth H on May 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Sanitize the housing and tubes. When using a fresh filter, no need to sanitized. Just unwrap carefully with clan hands and install in housing. Works great!
Could it be converted to work on a sanke keg?
Jeremy on Sep 14, 2022
BEST ANSWER: Yes it can. It has 2 beer lines with a ball lock quick connect on each line. You can pull the quick connects off and replace them with barbed snake style fittings or add the proper adapter.
I need new orings, but the only ones on the Morebeer site are for the water filter. I bought them and the beer filter leaks badly so they must not work with this beer filter. Where can I buy the orings for this unit.?
Gordon L on Mar 24, 2021
BEST ANSWER: The o-rings are the same overall diameter. Some people have success with adding an additional o-ring when using a beer filter. Otherwise if you tighten the lid down very hard you should be able to achieve the compression necessary to avoid leaks. We apologize for any inconvenience and trouble. Cheers!
Is this suppose to have rubber gaskets for the top and bottom of the filter element?

Good unit. You need a bannister wrench for sure. Also recommend adding two stainless ball lock to 1/2” npt adapters.
This product is pretty good. I will confirm all the same leaky issues that everybody else has complained about. If you don’t have a wrench for tightening the filter canister, that will an easy fail point. Luckily I already had one from my RO filter setup. The second leaky point are the shitty plastic connectors with the barb hose valves. I replaced those with stainless ball lock to 1/2” npt adapters and a bunch of Teflon thread tape. Sucks those cost an extra ~$13 a piece on Amazon. By using those you can also use your CO2 tank to purge the filter unit, eliminating the concern for oxidation. I also use a third stainless ball lock to 1/2” npt to connect to my fermenter. This way I can easily connect it when I keg my beer.

If you are like me and use PBW and startsan to clean your kegs, you will find that you can push use CO2 to push the pbw and starsan back thru the filter. I also bought one of the reusable filters. Was able to soak the filter with pbw in the filter canister. After running starstan thru the filter, I empty out the sanitizer and purge with CO2, leaving it ready for me to plug in for my next filter run

Def concerned about the plastic threads, but I plan on keeping my stainless threaded ball lock adapters in for the life of the filter

Leaky, from all main connection points. Filters well, but clogs single use filter with 5 gallons at 5 micron.
Was excited when I received the filter and wanted to put it right to work. Originally planned on inline filtering from the kegerator. However, right off the bat that wasn't going to work cause it leaks like crazy and I didn't want to ruin my wood floors. I then took 3 full kegs and attempted to filter them into clean kegs. If the pressure built up to 25lbs, it again leaked all over. At least it was in the garage. While it did clear up the beer well, it seams to only be able to do 5 gallons per filter (5 micron) which is going to get expensive for 40 gallon batches. I contacted support for the leaks and they said to apply plumbing tape lol. I though that was ridiculous and if it needs plumbers tape it should be applied at the factory. I also don't like the pressure valve or release valve or whatever it's specifically called as it will leak profusely from there under 5 psi. Do yourself a favor and replace the main plastic connectors and delete the valve. I'll control the pressure release at the keg and not the filter housing. Got stainless quick connectors for the main body which will be easier to use and to clean.
Inline draft filter. To leaky and not recommended.

Awesome - Easy to have sediment free beer - priceless
I read so many horrific reviews about filtering as the cannister explodes, it breaks a hose etc. However, this system was easy to set up and the process was seamless. Hook it to one Carboy and then to the other and watch your PSI in both tanks and the process begins. I used a spunding valve to maintain the pressure in the receiving tank. The entire process of transferring 18.5 L took about 13 mins.

filters well
filters our cider well but does potentially introduce oxygen into the transfer. hard to get the counter pressure accurate so that the transfer does not bubble within the filter housing.

Replace the barbed fittings
Mine had considerable leakage at the threads of the plastic barb fittings on the lid. The barbs themselves are flimsy and too narrow for the tubing. If you order this filter kit make sure to get two stainless 1/2" NPT 3/8" barb fittings to replace the plastic ones with.

Worked great
The red button didn't immediately purge the bubbles, so there was a bit of a mess until it cleared. After that it worked fine. Not sure why the directions say to keep the destination keg relief valve closed. If you leave it open the flow continues without having to continually release it.
