Description

This Ball Lock QD With Pressure Gauge and Adjustable PRV is a great accessory to have when performing pressure transfers. Made from stainless steel components for long-lasting quality. Features the Torpedo Keg gas-in disconnect and adjustable stainless gas pressure relief valve (D1833L). This model also features a pressure gauge that reads from 0-15 psi. Don't need the gauge? Check out the FIL42S.

Pressure Transfers

You may have done pressure transfers from keg to keg during filtering or after fining. During pressure transfers, it's a good idea to have a bit of head pressure in the receiving keg, especially if you're transferring beer that is already carbonated. Having an adjustable pressure relief valve in place will allow you to consistently control the head pressure and give you more consistent results, without losing carbonation in the process.

Note: The very end of the pressure relief valve can be adjusted by unscrewing the knurled adjustment knob. If too tight and not adjustable by hand, wrap a towel around the adjustment knob and loosen with pliers. Then finger tighten or loosen to desired pressure.

Does this spunding valve fit on a cornet?
Phillip D on Nov 11, 2020
BEST ANSWER: As long as the keg has a ball lock post then yes it will fit
Is krausen or beer foam an issue with either the valve or the gauge, and what precautions are necessary to prevent these issues?
Brett Binns on Jan 12, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Brett - Best to use some kind of fermcaps and decent headspace, but the pressure actually keeps the krausen down.

Works as advertised
I use this to fill kegs with beer carbonated in my conicals to equalize pressure as beer fills the keg. It works perfectly and has reduced any foaming inside the keg. Thumbs up.

looks better than it performs
bought 2 of these because they looked more robust and compact over the plastic ones, but one leaked badly out of the box, had to take it apart and tape the threads, the other was hardly assembled, both are very sloppy when attached to the ball lock stud,

Do not buy this.
DO NOT BUY. If you do get ready to fix it.

Keg post o ring needs to go inside the stainless steel QDC for a perfect fit. If you do not put the o ring inside it will not hold pressure. The measurements are off.

The fittings are not taped correctly and not tightened down. Break down all the way and rebuild. Spunding valve works 50% of the time.

***Customer service was 5 stars.*** They sent a replacement. Didn't work. Then they sent blowtie Spunding valve with plastic QDC. No problems.
Replacing tape and tightening down fittings.

Not impressed
I bought this in hopes to use it as a spunding valve. At first it did not hold back any pressure at all due to the fittings/gauge being put together too loose. After tightening everything up it still did not provide accurate pressure readings. It is a very cheap gauge. I'm going to try putting a higher quality 0-30 gauge on it in hopes of it being a functional unit.

Should have had one of these a long time ago!
While I haven't fermented with it yet, this combination valve and gauge makes it easy to check the CO2 level in a keg and makes carbonation much more precise. The parts and construction are high quality.

I found it to be aesthetically pleasing, and the compact size, a bonus. My only concern, it tended to bleed off a few psi over the course of a few days. It wasn't a big deal. I just used my CO2 tank and regulator to bump it back up to the desired pressure. I made sure all connection points were wrench tight, so my assumption is the pressure regulating valve has a slight leak.

Issues out of the box, but was an easy fix
I picked one of these up, as it was the only available option. Out of the box it would not hold any pressure. After removing the end, there was a tiny bur of metal blocking the valve from closing and making a solid seal. Once I removed it, added some keg lube to the o ring, it worked fine through two fermentations. The pressure gouge also is a bit off registering 6 PSI when it's 10.

Disappointed
I’m fairly competent when it comes to kegs, home brew parts etc. After watching videos of how this works, I set mine up. Right away I heard hissing. I made an adjustment on the knob. Still hissed. I finally grabbed the adapter where it met the post and found the source. The seal was loose.

I waited a day to see if more pressure would help. The next day the PSI read off the charts. So I dialed it back to 10 psi. 1 day later it was to 14 PSI. I dialed it back again, this time to 8PSI. 2 days later I went to check it and it had lost pressure. Very disappointed.

Steel is real. Works very well.
Works great. I hesitated in buying this after listen to a competitor sell me on the red plastic option. Steel is real. This is a reliable device that I believe will out perform the plastic version over time.

It works.
The Spunding valve works as it should. I gave it 3 stars because the gauge is as cheap as they come. It’s actually crooked, in relationship to its NPT fitting.
I’ll probably change the gauge to a nice liquid filled one. Then it would be a 5 stare gauge.
