Description

  • The original Beer, Beer, and MoreBeer! stout recipe perfected over many years and many pints. Expect a very clean, precise dark malt flavor
  • Includes Northern Brewer and British Kent Goldings hops
  • Estimated ABV: 6%
  • Estimated IBUs: 40-43
  • Makes 5 gallons of finished beer

When we developed this stout over the years we were going for a flavor that was similar to Guinness but with reduced bitterness and more malt flavor. We use 1 lb of Roasted Barley and leave out the Chocolate and Black Patent found in many stouts. This provides for a very clean, precise dark malt flavor. We always talk customers into this kit and they are always thankful we did. Our best-selling stout recipe.

  • Makes 5 gallons
  • Estimated Original Gravity: 1.056-65
  • SRM (Color Range): 29
  • IBUs: 40-43
  • Estimated Alcohol Percentage: 5.6-6.4%

Our recipe kits DO NOT include grain bags, yeast or priming sugar. To find our yeast recommendations, choose your preferred kit option above and then select the drop-down menu under “Yeast Options”.  For more info, click on the recommended yeast(s) below in the “You Might Also Need” section below. All included steeping grains will come milled.

Liquid Malt Extract (LME) vs. Dried Malt Extract (DME)
MoreBeer! recipe kits are offered in both Liquid Malt Extract and Dry Malt Extract so that our customers can choose the format that best suits their needs and brewing style. LME is a viscous liquid, similar in consistency to maple syrup. In addition to being the more affordable option, many brewers find LME easier to handle than dry extract. DME is more condensed and comes in a powder format that is similar to baking flour. Although it’s a little more costly, DME is naturally lighter in color and stays fresher for longer. We highly recommend DME when brewing light colored beers.

The recipe sheet says to add clarifier, is it included with the kit?
Jason Laplander on Nov 3, 2023
BEST ANSWER: I believe they are talking about the Whirfloc tablet, which is included
Has anyone used 1084 instead of 1056? Or better yet, done a comparison between the two yeasts with the B3 kit?
Stefan Girgenrath on Mar 24, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I've used both yeast side-by-side in a different recipe. The 1084 gives a very nice signature 'velvet' mouthfeel that I've never gotten from another yeast in all my years of brewing. Aside from that, the two were the same finishing gravity. The 1056 highlighted the bitterness from the roasted grains which made it taste more like a strong cup of coffee. For my personal taste I prefered the 1084 mouthfeel and balance of flavor.

Not great
Since we are big fans of stouts, we thought we'd brew this. We should have known better when it said it was similar to Guinness.

This is the Best Stout
I've been making this beer for probably 20 years or so. It may have been the first beer I ever made and is still my favorite stout.

Great breakfast beer
The nicely roasted and subtle chocolate almost coffee malt make this a great morning cup of brew on a lazy Sunday morning.

Easy and Delicious Kit
Brewed this 6 months ago. This was one of the easiest kits I brewed and I was blown away how amazing this tasted. Everyone I shared this beer with said it was their favorite one made by me and wanted more.Very similar to a foreign dry stout. I used Safale US 05 and it gave a clean finish, allowing the malts to give their flavors.

Great beginner beer
This was the first beer I ever brewed, in Jan 2018. Whole process went off without a hitch. Lasted on my shelf less than a month based on the popularity with my friends, but I could tell the subtle hop flavor on the finish slightly mellow over that time, making the beer taste even better (in my opinion). I used the WyYeast 1056 American Ale.

Yummy with WLP001
It's a bit dry with WLP001 California ale but I like the taste (and dryness). Awesome recipe!

B3 Stout
I love stouts and this is honestly the best one I've had. Even a friend of mine who has been brewing for about 20 years said it was the best one he has ever had. It has a nice black color and rich head that lasts without the strong coffee flavor. Very smooth and drinkable. I'm nearing the end of my bottles on this one and will be ordering another batch soon.

Hearty Stout
I add some cocoa powder to this kit to make my "half-asphalt cocoa stout." Beer lovers and snubbers both like it.

Excellent stout, very neutral, great tasting by itself or with additions.
My favorite stout. Also great with Cherry juice or huckleberry juice added to secondary fermenter.
