Does any of the documentation state a wattage specification? 120V / 15A should be able to manage up to 1800W. I want to use this unit to control a 1650W immersion heater in a RIMS tube, but want to make sure it can handle the power requirement.
Edward F on May 8, 2020
BEST ANSWER: You are correct that this controller can handle up to 1800 watts total. The relay is rated to 15 amps which is one of the standard for 120v outlets. There should be no problem running your 1650 watt element.
Is there a reccomend way to mount the probe thru the side of a brew pot?
Tom B on Dec 30, 2020
BEST ANSWER: The standard way is to drill a hole in the side of your kettle and install a thermowell. We have a thermowell that comes with a bulkhead (FE615) or you can purchase a bulkhead (H727) and thermowell (FE622). If you don't want to drill a hole you can use a thermowell such as (H973) and clamp it to your kettle with a removable clamp.
If using this with a refrigerator, how does it affect the temperature in the freezer? For example if you set it at 65 for the refrigerator what is the temperature of the freezer?
Marc K on Jan 25, 2023
BEST ANSWER: Marc,
If your fridge/freezer combo is regulated from the same setting control, it will impact your freezer temp, depending on the amount of insulation your freezer compartment has. Since you are not likely to be changing the fridge temp by much (maybe just going down to near freezing for a crash and up to 55ish for cellaring), you should be able to retain freezing temps up top. I am not sure whether units with separate controls would respond, but you would expect les impact.
Is the temperature probe able to be disconnected?
Antonio M on Dec 10, 2019
BEST ANSWER: the probe cannot be disconnected
Is this the right one for a keezer conversion?
Eric E on Sep 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Eric, this controller operates on 120V 15A. As long as the freezer does not pull more than 15A, it should do just fine.
Under features it says, “Plug can be inverted to match your receptacle”. Do I have to take the temperature controller apart to do this? Or does the plug rotate freely?
Kerry Shaver on Feb 8, 2021
BEST ANSWER: You do not have to take apart the temperature controller itself. All the adjustments happen at the power brick where it plugs into the wall or power strip. You can adjust it so that the brick sits above, below, or to the side of the outlet for the most convenient orientation for anything else plugging in along side it.
Is the probe submersible?
Andrew G on Feb 2, 2021
BEST ANSWER: No It is designed to be used in a thermowell
