Doesn't fit in metal shield, and not real accurate
Looks like a decent thermometer, but is is described as fitting in in the metal shield that they sell. As another reviewer described, there is a plastic piece, apparently glued on, that prevents it from fitting into the shield. That plastic piece does not come off easily, and I am afraid that I will break the thermometer if I apply enough force to get it off. Maybe I can very carefully file it off or saw it off?
The thermometer does have reasonably large numbers, so it is pretty easy to read. But at 60 deg F it reads about 3 deg higher than my other glass thermometer, and reads 218F in boiling water, so its accuracy is not great.

Good basic thermometer
I bought this for use with the thermometer shield. They should tell you that it is required to remove the anti-roll plastic piece from the end, which is glued on pretty securely. Took some effort to remove without breaking the thermometer. Otherwise, thermometer works well and is a good value.
