A winter beer is typically a little heartier than a summer sipper. They also sometimes include spices that remind us of the winter holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. For me a perfect winter beer is a big robust Porter or Stout. I also enjoy a good Amber or Brown if I am looking for something with a little less roast charecter. Nothing beats a big malty beer in the winter, especially with some nice freshly harvested hop aroma to balance it out.
