Make your first batch of beer - and have it brewed by Samuel Adams!

Brewing beer at home is easy, fun, and results in some of the best beer you or your friends will ever have.  So why not share it with like-minded craft beer drinkers?  The Samuel Adams LongShot
is an annual homebrewing competiton, brought to you by the Boston Beer Company, brewers of Samuel Adams beers. The competiton invites homebrewers from around the country to enter their own home-made beers for the chance to have it brewed commercially by Samuel Adams and distributed for sale nation-wide!  Visit the Samuel Adams Longshot site for all the details and regulations on entering the competiton.

Getting started is simple - select the Deluxe Homebrewing equipment kit below that best matches the style of beer you would like to brew for your first batch - American Ale, Amber Ale, or a Porter.  If you need a kettle, you can pick one of those up as well.  A week or so later your order will arrive, complete with the beer ingredient kit you chose - all that is left is for you to make the beer, enter it, and win!
Jim Koch, founder and brewer of Samuel Adams® beers, started off as a homebrewer, creating his first batch of Samuel Adams Boston Lager in his kitchen. The LongShot  competition is his way of giving homebrewers a chance at seeing their hand-crafted beers be tasted by beer-drinkers across the country.
You have a chance to influence a commercial beer ... pretty cool!

Like we said, it's easy to home brew quality beer in your kitchen with just a few simple pieces of equipment.  For over 14 years, MoreBeer! has been bringing the art of homebrewing to thousands of people though its line of equipment and ingredient kits - people like you, who are in search of beer made the way you like it!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I really brew beer at home?
Yes!  Not only that, but we think it will be the best beer you have had, period!

How long does it take?
Brewing a batch of beer takes about 4 hours from start to finish.  Fermentation takes about two weeks, and it will take another two weeks for the beers to carbonate in the bottles.  So from brewing to drinking the whole process takes about a month, but most of that is just waiting for the beer to do its thing!

I see that your equipment kits come with ingredients to brew a batch of beer ... how much beer is a "batch"?
Our ingredient kits make about 5 gallons of beer, which may sound like a lot, but it is only about two cases of 12-ounce bottles. And once your friends start trying your homebrew, you'll find that two cases won't be enough!

Apart from the kits listed below, what else would I need to brew beer at home?
You will need a kettle that can boil at least 3 gallons of water and two cases of clean 12oz beer bottles - the caps and cappers are already included in the kits.

Ok, I want to brew!  How do I do it?
Inside each kit are full instructions on exactly how to make a great batch of beer at home. You can also call us with any questions you might have during the brewing process.  The bottom line is don't worry - if you can boil water you can make beer!

Can I really win the Sam Adams LongShot competiton with my very first batch of beer?
Sure!  If you follow the directions carefully, you have a great chance of winning, even if it is called "LongShot"!
