Description

Your days of lugging heavy glass carboys around are over thanks to these plastic carboys! Our Plastic Carboys are made from 100% Virgin PET plastic, which is far more resistant to oxygen than regular plastic. They’re much lighter and safer than glass, which is good if you need to move your fermenter around the house to find the right temperature. Full carboys can be heavy and hard to maneuver and glass can break resulting in possible injury. In addition to being safer to handle, they’re more economical than glass as well. With no ribs on the sides, there’s no place for yeast and sediment to collect, making cleaning a breeze. We suggest cleaning them with an overnight PBW soak, shake, rinse, and sanitize. You’ll want to avoid vigorous scrubbing during cleaning to avoid scratches.

Two special features we love about our PET Carboys are the punted base and extra head space. The punted base makes the carboy easier to hold while carrying or pouring, and prevents sediment disturbance during transfers. The extra head space is a huge plus to make sure you have enough room for when your fermentation gets going.

Perfect!
These are made of Pet plastic so they're impermeable to oxygen. You can age your brews in these for a year or more with no ill effects. Better than glass carboys because you don't have to worry about these breaking.

Perfect for secondary
I use my two for secondary fermenting and they work perfect! Easy to clean, no worry of glass shattering......just perfect.

Nice carboys

The shipping was really fast. I just received the carboys and haven't used them but they seem well-made and are smooth on the inside. I expect they'll work perfectly as secondary fermenters. The suggested rubber stoppers fit perfectly too.

So much better than glass
I have always had trouble storing my glass carboys and worrying about the way they are stored. I have these just tossed up on a shelf. I can stack them put stuff around them and never have to worry about them breaking. I love these.

Good but not compatable with Better Bottle Systems
Good design, good product but the opening is bigger than the Better Bottle version. Which is too bad because the stopper and traps are not interchangeable. They couldn't make a uniform size could they?

Great secondary.
I've been using one of these for a secondary, and it works great. It is just the right size for a 5 gallon batch of beer, and leaves almost no head space. Plus, when moving one of these around, you won't worry about it shattering, and cutting you up. These are a little harder to clean, and will scratch and dent, but they're still pretty durable. They are supposedly more oxygen permeable, but I haven't noticed any oxidation in my beer. I would recommend these over glass carboys any day.

Don't fear oxidized beer...!
Before I purchased a plastic carboy for aging sour beers, I was skeptical of any oxidized off flavors. Using this plastic carboy for the last year, I have never been able to detect any off flavors in my delicious 11 month old Flanders Red...no fear...go for iiit, plastiiic!

Perfect for Secondary fermetation
Very happy with this 5 gal carboy - minimizes airspace after racking from Primary carboy, always a perfect fit when starting a kit with 6 gal of spring water.

so far very durable
I thought these would have broken on me by now, haha but they are pretty durable and easy to clean. I have broken a glass carboy before, so I feel much safer using these.

So far, so good!
As I'm stil fairly new to homebrewing, I'd heard some horror stories from friends about glass carboys. Looked into plastic options and decided on this for a secondary fermenter. Only downside is that I find the #10 stopper can easily get stuck in the neck of the bottle, so I purchased a #10.5 as well. With a bit of work, I find this is a bit simpler to use and to get in and out.
